If
you've wondered how modular housing and traditional
on-site, stick construction compare from the standpoints
of quality, cost, delivery time, resale value, and
efficiency, you should know the following...
Equal
or Higher Quality
Modular homes are made up of housing components or
modules constructed with the same materials used in
traditional on-site stick construction. The major
difference is that housing modules are assembled in a
controlled factory environment. See the spec sheets of
any home we sell and compare it to that of another
production builder. You'll realize the quality of a Best
Home is the same if not higher.
Reduced Cost
Our
housing modules are constructed in a controlled
assembly-line style environment. This is the same
innovative approach embraced by Henry Ford that launched
the America car industry. Accordingly, builders aren't
delayed by weather, on-site vandalism or lack of
materials – costs which typically inflate the cost of an
on-site constructed home.
Reduced Time
Because of the controlled environment in which they
work, modular homes builders can typically construct a
two-story, 2,500 sq. ft. house in under a week.
Individual modules are up to 90% complete when shipped
from the factory to the home site. All walls, flooring,
ceilings, stairs, carpeting, and even wall finish are
completed in the factory before shipment. Because of
this, final on-site assembly is reduced greatly.
Energy Efficiency
Over
the life of the home, modular homes save money because
they are incredibly efficient. Again, we invite you to
review our spec sheets, particularly the sections on
Exterior and Construction and Insulation.
